Mi Yaad opened on January 21, 2021, at the newest Saraga International Grocery at 2800 S. Hamilton Road, Columbus, Ohio and every day they’re getting busier and busier. They are also getting a lot of reviews about the food. It is everything you want when having or eating authentic Jamaican and African Cuisine.

Having the restaurant located inside Saraga International Grocery is a perfect business idea because the store is home to multiple vegetables, food items, different kinds of meat that suit various cultures, and more from other parts of the world.

Combining food from the Caribbean, specifically Jamaican and African, will be a winning combo. While I was there, I spoke to a few customers, and I found out that it was not their first visit and it will not be their last, according to one customer. The owners are Jamaican and Senegalese, so expect nothing less than perfection in the kitchen.

The owner Davis spoke to the New Americans Business Magazine about the food and planning on expanding the restaurant.

Kind of Food

Customers can choose oxtail, curry goat, jerk chicken, brown stew chicken, and Rasta Pasta for proteins. For those that are vegan or vegetarian, a few of their side dishes could be an option if they prefer, such as rice, peas, plantain, steamed cabbage, and so much more. They also have pepper steak, escovitch fish, and steamed fish for other proteins. “We have oxtail jerk chicken, and you can’t get any better than that, and it is very authentic. We have a Jamaican chef, Jamaican style, and of course, inspired Jamaican dishes,” Davis said.

“For people who don’t even have the opportunity to visit Jamaica, our restaurant gives customers who experience the food a moment to feel like they are in Jamaica,” Davis added.

“Those meat pies are so good. I just had some yesterday, and it was delicious. Please check them out; I’m in love with the food already,” a customer said. Another customer added, “I will be going there again, especially for the cabbage.”

Why the name Miyaad

“I’m very homely. I love to cook, so it is like a bright house when people come to my restaurant; I want them to feel like they are eating at my home,” Davis said. “The food is good, and it is Jamaican style which has different types of cooking,” the restaurant chef added.

Catering

Customers can order our food from Door Dash, Google Uber Eats, and other online food ordering services.

The food is excellent, so come and enjoy the ambiance while experiencing our culture.

They are also planning on expanding to three other locations in the Central Ohio areas. Soon after, Mi Yaad food plans to receive its liquor license and serve several drinks options.
