State Support Boosts Four Small Businesses, Creates New Jobs Across Ohio

The Ohio Department of Development has announced $1,174,528 in support for four small businesses as part of the state’s continued effort to support entrepreneurship and bolster Ohio’s business community. 

The Minority Development Financing Advisory Board (MDFAB) approved the funding during its monthly meeting.

“Behind every entrepreneur in Ohio is someone with grit, vision, and the hope of building not just a business, but a legacy,” said Lydia Mihalik, director of the Department of Development.

“We’re proud to support these small business owners as they grow their companies, create jobs, and strengthen their communities.”

Businesses receiving support include:

Brand Equity Pro, LLC (Franklin County) was approved for a $64,487 Women’s Business Enterprise loan. Established in 2018, the Columbus-based sign and graphic design company provides custom design services, signage repair, installation, and LED conversions. The loan will be used to purchase a new printer and support the creation of one full-time job.

Native Tree Care, LLC (Clermont County) was approved for a $245,804 Women’s Business Enterprise loan. Founded in 2019, this Cincinnati company specializes in environmentally friendly tree care services. The loan will be used to purchase new equipment, enhancing the company’s ability to manage large-scale trimming projects. The funds will also be used to refinance existing debt, resulting in significant annual savings.

Sangfroid Strategy, LLC, (Cuyahoga County) was approved for a $331,737 Women’s Business Enterprise loan. Founded in 2016, the Cleveland firm specializes in strategic consulting, program evaluation, and capacity-building services. The firm partners with nonprofits, philanthropic foundations, and government agencies to strengthen their operations and drive sustainable social change. The loan will be used to refinance existing business debt, resulting in significant annual savings, supporting the creation of five full-time jobs.

Flairsoft, LTD (Franklin County) was approved for a $532,500 Minority Direct loan. Founded in 2001, the technology solutions provider specializes in innovative software and expertise consulting services in eGovernment, enterprise architecture, business process management, and IT. The loan will be used to purchase new office space in Columbus, supporting the creation of three new full-time jobs and the retention of three jobs.

Since January 2022, Development has invested nearly $28 million in support to more than 300 businesses through the Women’s Business Enterprise Loan Program, the Minority Direct Loan Program, the Ohio Micro-Loan Program, and the Ohio Minority Business Bonding Program.
